it would be murder even if carried out legally. when someone dies due to the deliberate actions taken by another to kill them, that's a murder. it doesn't get any less murdery because some governing body blessed it as the good kind of murder.

Self defense isn't murder and you'll still be killing someone with deliberate intent if you have to do it. Your definition isn't true even in casual usage, much less legal.

when someone dies due to the deliberate actions taken by another to kill them, that's a murder.
