Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding non-YSK posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-YSK posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

If you are a member, sympathizer or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

For further explanation, clarification and feedback about this rule, you may follow this link.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- The majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

Unless included in our Whitelist for Bots, your bot will not be allowed to participate in this community. To have your bot whitelisted, please contact the moderators for a short review.

Rule 11- Posts must actually be true: Disiniformation, trolling, and being misleading will not be tolerated. Repeated or egregious attempts will earn you a ban. This also applies to filing reports: If you continually file false reports YOU WILL BE BANNED! We can see who reports what, and shenanigans will not be tolerated. We are not here to ban people who said something you don't like.

If you file a report, include what specific rule is being violated and how.

Funny. Because apple says they respect my data security and privacy first and foremost and as we all know, lying in advertisements isn't a thing.

Everyone says Apple cares about privacy. Why is this even there?

[–] gustofwind@lemmy.world 16 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

If they cared less you wouldn’t even get the option

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Google and Facebook do the same thing, doesn't make them any more privacy friendly.

Google and Facebook don’t enforce these kinds of setting onto their internal apps

When you tell iOS to not share info with applications it actually doesn’t share that info with applications. Facebook sued Apple over this.

Look, I don’t worship Apple but it’s just wrong to say they aren’t wayyy more protective of privacy than almost everyone else

Edit; violating apples privacy rules subjected Facebook to legal liability (https://www.forbes.com/sites/kateoflahertyuk/2022/09/22/facebook-keeps-giving-users-more-reasons-to-delete-their-accounts/)

Fb sues Apple for letting users choose not to share information at the system level (https://business-law-review.law.miami.edu/battle-tech-giants-apple-facebook-clash-consumer-data-privacy/)

Not true. They’re required by law.

There are 2 reasons a big corporation will ever do anything:

  1. Make number go up

  2. Avoid number going down due to bad PR, government fines, etc.

This probably falls under #2.

Apple does sell privacy. They market it as a feature.

And their hardware sales margins are hilarious.

So in this case they do have some incentive for privacy/security.

The cool thing is that you can turn it off

We get it, you're paid by Apple.

Or, I hope someone sucking corporate cock like you do is getting paid at least,.

[–] watson@lemmy.world -4 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

I’m going to save this comment as an excellent example of someone who is a “fanatic”. Someone who believes that the only way someone could disagree with them is if they were paid to do that.

[–] Lumisal@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

The irony is lost on you.

Guess you're just a free corporate hoe after all. I feel sorry for you. Not even getting paid to lick those boots clean.

[–] watson@lemmy.world -3 points 4 hours ago

I’m sorry to hear of your troubles. Best wishes.

I wish there was a way to turn off that Klarna advert in Apple Pay.

Every time you pay there is a ‘Other cards and pay later options’ button. You use it to change to a different card, but when you do there’s an option to sign up for Klarna.

Apple should do better than be promoting shitty BNPL services.

Their hardware would be too expensive without this subsidizing it.

Like, turn off the iPad or iPhone?

Agreed.
