Actually, though; cause I offered last year when there was a sterilisation program to do my aunts cats and she was like no no and I’m like but they’re gonna have kittens and aren’t you sad that not all of them make it like it’s not good and literally that’s just the mentality 😪

I think it’s an older generation thing :(

The reason he got the name bread is he actually wandered into my house and I found him on top of my kitchen table eating bread and at first glance I thought he was my orange cat and I was like wait a minute that’s not my cat and then he ran away from my house and he didn’t come back for a few days and then he started to come back slowly so I started to leave food for him further away from my house but still on my property so my cats don’t bully him.

He is well fed by me for the last 3 months haha

[–] Whitecat@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 hours ago

Yeah, exactly. If he’s someone’s he should be microchipped which the vet will check first

[–] Whitecat@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 hours ago

THIS IS SO HELPFUL THANK YOU!

I am 100% sure, but he eats at my house I have a food bowl at the top of the gate for him. And even if he is a neighbours because he’s roaming around like that he should be neutered and unfortunately Greek mentality over here don’t fix a neuter your pets if you even like offered to do it for them it’s almost like you’re asking to castrate their son, but yeah, no, he is definitely a stray and not a neighbours I only have 4 neighbours 😂

Edit; also realised I didn’t answer the question. I’m going to release him right where I trapped him around my house. I live in a remote village in Corfu like my property is 2 acres. The only people that live next to me are my family so I literally don’t know where he came from, but there’s a lot strays and Corfu unfortunately :(

So there’s a huge stray cat problem and population in Corfu and I’m trying to make a tiny difference. This is the first cat I’ll be trapping myself and releasing. Today my friend‘s mom dropped off a trap and we’re gonna set it up and see what happens. I’ll keep you guys posted

(Edit: edited to say I am sure he is a stray because he doesn’t belong to any of my family which are the only people that live around me and there’s only a main road that you would have to cross to get here and I’ve been feeding him for three months either way, the vet will confirm if he’s microchip or not too. Also, I’m not releasing a randomly I’m going to release them right where he comes to eat. )

The good thing is, it’s like a huge kind of village area so it’s like really forest area so most of the time they shit outside because cats are actually pretty clean creatures and don’t like to smell their own poop thank goodness for natures giant litter box below

Edit; to answer the original question too; 8 boxes around the house

[–] Whitecat@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 hours ago

Lots of vacuuming and brushing; they all are actually fairly shorthaired too so they don’t shed that much, which is nice. I also have a dry shampoo from my vet that I use on them :)

I’ve rescued from 6 different litters

There aren’t many vets here. BUT I bet it is cheaper in the Uk, a lot of returning tourist will bring care packages of things from the UK because it’s more affordable than purchasing here. I’ve always chalked that up to it being an island. Even electronics like iPhone 16 and I bought it for like €980 were in Canada would’ve been like 1300 cad.

It’s called cleaning… you should try it sometime, probably starting by with cleaning up your attitude first

Trying to find a spot to watch tv with the fur babies is tight 😂

More pictures :)

So a tourist found these three in April in a garbage bag seen below in the screenshots of my conversation with the tourist. There was some speculations in my first ever post that the garbage bag cats weren’t the same as the cats that I posted after. But you know what? I’m glad they don’t look the same because the cats in the garbage bag are wet, face down and about to die and with a little love these garbage three turned into some beautiful freaking creatures.

This is a video of the first night when my friend came over with formula who also fosters and rescues cats here in Corfu.

My sleep schedule was insane. This was my first time bottle feeding kittens and they were obviously just born. Tiny still had an umbilical cord attached …I was waking up every hour for the first few days every two hours for the next week every three afterwards then every four… I was exhausted

On Easter I really thought Tiny wasn’t going to make it. She was so small and she was fading and panting, like in the video below for an hour. After feeding her with a syringe keeping her warm rubbing honey on her gums to boost her sugar levels she pulled through.

Easter is when my aunt told me that a cat by her house had given birth and has two kittens and I should maybe try to get her to accept the three garbage bin babies..so I gave it a shot and lucky me…The mom accepted all three babies.

So now we have tiny Chonky and moustache from the garbage bins as well as Buffy, spike(black cat) and the best cat mom

https://peertube.wtf/w/njKt1fZpzTzQ6wP1x1AEuS

Tiny moustache chonky spike and Buffy were introduced to another kitten that was found in a field while someone was cutting the grass. His name was potato. I’ll share his story in a separate post later. He’s the white one with the orange tipped ears.

Spike was adopted by university student here in Corfu and lives in an apartment in the city meanwhile Buffy and the garbage three live with me. I had mommy spayed and returned her back to my aunts. My aunt tried to keep her indoors but she wasn’t having it. She’s still running a ruckus around my aunt’s house and knocks on the door when she wants food sometimes she’ll stroll in for a little look around .The good thing is though now she’s spayed so no more kittens.

Tiny had a little battle with anaemia but after a quick vet visit everything was alright. the 5 cats I kept started to explore outside and bond more Once tiny and Buffy were six months they were spayed. And shortly after moustache and mushroom (another cat rescued who will have their own post) also we’re spayed.. and also we’re kinda high. ( will post videos of them kinda high to the peer tube later it’s just kinda hard case I already started this post before uploading those videos) there is however some other videos that I haven’t linked here on that channel that you guys can also watch.

To think that these three cats..if that tourist hadn’t heard moustache screaming in the garbage bin from a tied up blue bag .. would be dead is unbelievable. The love they have to offer is unmatched and the attachment I have to them because they were the first kittens I’ve ever bottle fed is impossible to describe. Anyways, that’s the story of the garbage bag babies. On the first post I ever posted on lemmy someone tried to say that the cats in the blue bag were different than the second photo I posted because there’s a whole other cat in the back or they aren’t the same tabbies well I guess now you know who Buffy is…

Here pics of moustache, Chonky and tiny today

As we all can probably tell I’m very bad at taking photos editing things and writing, but I do have a good heart and I’m just trying to help some cats

I apologise for including the videos of the kitten that passed away and the one that was fading but I just wanted to show the severity of what happens and why trap and release is important. I also included a video of me with three cats that I rescued as well that are mine now, cause I have 14 freaking cats.

!

So I moved to the island of Corfu last year because my grandparents had a house here and rent was ridiculous in Toronto… in a year since I’ve been here I’ve bottle fed 16 kittens which were abandoned or thrown in garbage bins ( I have more photos of all) 7 which unfortunately didnt make it ..because when they’re that young and they don’t have their mother’s milk they most of the time fade. Anyway, I am rambling the government hasn’t put any funds aside for trap and release this year at all and there’s going to be a lot of cats that die this winter. I already have exhausted my funds trying to do everything I can and now I have 14 cats (5 before the kittens and 9 kittens that survived) all of my cats are sterilised obviously out of my own pocket I want to go save them all… I just can’t ..but I want to do more so I started a fundraiser campaign but I’m a fucking loner who lives on a Greek island with now 14 cats 🫠so I don’t really know how to get it any traction so I can at least start helping more cats. So hopefully nobody trolls me and somebody can give me a hand with this. :)

The mods have went over some of my proof and said I can post the link to the donation page here..

Edit** So moderator reached out to me and because “somebody”doesn’t think that this is real, they asked that I removed the link to donate. even though that the moderator-said I could put the link in the first place after I sent some proof they now want me to post for a couple of weeks about the cats I’ve rescued before being allowed to post a donation link again. So what I’m gonna do starting tomorrow is post about each group of cats that I’ve rescued and now live with me personally and their journeys.. and once I build up community and trust, I’ll be allowed to post a donation link again. So stay tuned for lots of cat pictures from me and their stories.. our story. Thank you guys in the end it’s all about the cats.
