I mean New Zealand has a right wing party in charge who are currently dismantling trans rights and want to throw out various treaties with made with the Maori people.

Like Australia sucks but NZ has had really good propaganda to make it seem like some kind of socdem paradise.

My guess is racism. Maori women be accurately worried about being victims of targeted racist violence. And more affluent white women being spuriously worried about Maori men as thugs and criminals.

Instructions unclear, became a trans lesbian.

One of the things I think is neat about the Mad Max series is it's not really one apocalypse as much as a series of apocalypses like the bronze age collapse.

The society Max is raised in, shown in the first film is not normal to begin with. He turns up to a decidedly fascist "Hall of Justice" with a lightening bolt on display, but like they've only got a half dozen guys left for their sector and it's a run down dump. The plot of that film is not normal society breaking but the wall no longer keeping out barbarians.

The army Immortan Joe and Praetorian Jack's parents were in was probably not the Australian Defence force but some rump state trying to hold together.

Nuclear war is meant to have happened between Road Warrior and Thunderdome. Not before.

How is this relevant? Uh I don't know, some parts of the world might be stable at some points and gone at other bits etc.

Yeah they were meant to have full air support. Kennedy was meant to be pressured into doing it but he wasn't.

Then a full scale invasion was on the cards, which prompted the need for whole missile crisis.

I'm not disagreeing. I'm just saying on their best day it's a totally pyrrhic victory.

Sure. I don't necessarily disagree. Consider my comment the best possible case for the USA.

Cuba's proximity to the USA gives them advantages they don't have for other conflicts. We don't know push comes to shove if Russia backs them and international condemnation has done nothing in recent years.

Whatever happens they're still fucked.

And obviously Cuba has been planning for invasion for more than half a century. They definitely have plans, caches, sleeper agents, stay behinds etc.

Invading Cuba would destroy the American Empire right now. That's why they quarantine it via the blockade. ~~They'd~~ Even if they defeat the army in days, capture Havana, and imprison the president.

Then what? It's Iraq and Afghanistan on their doorstep. Except a huge chunk of the population actually liked the old government. And even those who don't might be swayed when they lose their jobs, healthcare etc and they're abused by Americans and their families murdered.

A large urban centre for unrest. Mountains for resistance to hide in. Then the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Haiti, Puerto Rico etc nearby for rebels to foment unrest. The Virgin Islands, Miamia and Mexico to carry out assassinations and terrorist attacks against Americans.

The US drone striking any boat in the Caribbean they think is rebels. Killing "innocents" and tourists.

I think it's Kwame Ture who said something like Marx didn't invent dialectical materialism he discovered it/described it, just like Newton didn't invent gravity.

I feel the online one needs to be split to online dating and online - other. I think there's a difference between say we met on dating app, we were involved in a niche interest on a forum and then met at an event or something like that, or we were twitter/bluesky mutuals who chatted for years etc

They were like we wanted to swap the gender but we’re worried a strong Asian lady would be too Dragon Lady Stereotype. Like fuck off and cast Michelle Yeoh, she would have nailed it.

They also wanted to cut Wong, like WTF? Though ultimately making him a peer/equal instead of a servant was a great change.
