As a huge Metallica fan myself I'd say the Black Album has more to its sound than it has to its songwriting, which is not a bad thing in itself but still a strong departure, even more so after an album like ...And Justice for All. I still really enjoy it though.

Soundgarden's career is a bit convoluted, but Badmotorfinger is my absolute favourite, the guitar sounds in there are absolutely gorgeous and the songwriting has something of this early 90s, hardboiled, Helmet-style grit that I've been digging, more particularly on songs like Slaves & Bulldozers or Mind Riot.

Also thank you for mentioning Fear Factory, this band never get enough credit and their first album is a classic

Three months ago, I quit my job as a derivatives analyst to study janitorial science.

My mother cried. My father sent me a Wikipedia article about "sunk cost fallacy." My college roommate texted a single question mark.

I didn't respond to any of them.

I enrolled in the Custodial Arts Certificate Program at a community college in Fresno, where my instructor, a former competitive speed-mopper named Gerald, told me on day one: "The mop doesn't lie to you. The spreadsheet does."

Gerald has mopped the floors of three Olympic venues and one papal visit. He speaks about grout lines the way Yo-Yo Ma talks about Bach.

I am currently failing the Stain Identification module.

But here's what I know: Diogenes of Sinope lived in a barrel and considered it a complete life. He told Alexander the Great to get out of his sunlight. That's the energy I'm bringing to my squeegee certification.

My LinkedIn connections have dropped by forty percent.

Worth it.

The floors aren't going to clean themselves. And apparently, neither am I.

Still studying. Still mopping. Still here.

The first distro I used was SuSE (yes, before there was "Open" in the name 😅) on a Pentium III

I spent many years on Arch, but it don't think it's the distro I used the most any longer...

The distro I am using now is Fedora Workstation, which has been my daily driver for a dozen years now, and it's also my favorite distro.

The distro I'll be using in the future may be Silverblue

The distro I hate the most... is Ubuntu 😆 I had so many troubles over the years with this one, there was always something nonfunctional

My honorable mention: CachyOS looks pretty nice 😉

As for all the distros I tried... there's way too many 😅

Too bad Epic is kept alive by children buying skins and silly dances who aren't old enough to care about how sick that company has become

Doesn't seem to be plagued by the same limitations as mine... The problem must be somewhere else

What motherboard is it? I had problems with a 4-stick ddr4 configuration recently and found out the mobo didn't have the same specs on all 4 slots 😅

He was a cool programmer, but just like Carmack, he is not meant to manage a company.

As time goes by, I am also increasingly convinced that it's rather Cliff Bleszinski's game design that made Epic what it was.

Indeed he is trying to impress you, and spending his money may be a goofy way of telling you how he feels without the need to speak.

He may not know how to word things gracefully, keep in mind that it could be stressful for him as well.

Maybe at some point telling him that you can buy your own things, and that it is not the reason why you're spending time with him, could lead to a more constructive discussion... If you're not afraid to have it, that is
