Old history from the Dead by Daylight community. How a developers experience on a livestream got the flashlight item nerfed

Four of Dead by Daylights most talented players undertake a challenge to get to the top monthly grade, Iridescent 1, with fresh accounts before they run out of survivors. A survivor is killed if they die through any means in the trial and act as shared lives for the team of 4. That means they have a combined total of a little over 40 lives to make it through 20 grades, each requiring multiple games. Because BHVR targets a 60% death rate in their balancing, this is exceptionally difficult, and isn't the only restriction they work under.

The creators involved are also a fun mix of personalities, the inattentive genius jrm, the chase demon Ayrun, the competitive sweat Hens, and the diligent encyclopedia Otzdarva. They showcase their incredible talents and team work in a grueling saga

A little photobomb action with the always funny Ghostface

Dead by Daylight has been host to a number of interesting tournaments. One of these was the Mishtery Tournament hosted by the streamer Mish. It was a massive undertaking where dozens of streamers played incognito, and are judged by the crowd of viewers for their in game performance. Streamers also contributed to little skits between games. Not the most competitively valid tournament, but a really fun one to watch

In this video Scott discusses how survivors aren't satisfied with BHVR's changes to prevent tunneling and camping. He alleges that survivors will still give up and disconnect even with the drastic anti-tunnel changes. I tend to agree with Scott here. I play both sides and it is miserable as survivor to have team mates who queue with no real intention of playing, and it is miserable as killer to sit in queue only to have a game that is over before it really gets underway. I don't know that BHVR's changes will fix that.

Explanation: Leon's voice actor was told before going in to record his lines to act like it 'felt good' and the resulting voice work has become infamous and popular in the dead by daylight community because it sounds so horny

With the release of the Walking Dead chapter Dead by Daylight's creators BHVR set up a session for top streamers to play with Chandler Riggs, from the Walking Dead. The first attempt was ill fated, but they got him back for a new skin release.

Edit: A highlight of the game is when they attempt to setup a classic DBD bullying maneuver by trying to hole him at the gallows generator. It doesn't quite go as planned ๐Ÿ˜‚

Probably my favorite clip from dead by daylight and drag legend Deere. Who amongst us hasn't tried to take a hit when the killers power makes it really inadvisable?

Dead by Daylight is a deceptively simple game with a simple premise and commands, but this simplicity disguises a complex and unforgiving system. Its easy to get discouraged when a killer or survivor not only beats you, but rubs it in after. To add on to that the new 'Leave Prevention' system can flag you for a poor game even if you were trying your best.

Its a hard game to get into, but luckily content creators have created excellent resources to help new players stand their own against the 12k hour masters. I wanted to highlight some of the best educational DBD content available. Mish is a DBD legend who can loop with incredible skill without breaking her chat flow. In the linked video she gives some great tips to start DBD and if that peaks your interest she has an amazing bootcamp with a fellow survivor. In this bootcamp she walks a newer player through the decisions that make up chase and explains the high level concepts that you need to know to execute great micro gameplay.

Some of the best moments of DBD come when survivors and killers abandon the objectives to do something silly with each other. Whether its negotiating over a dropped item or booping a snoot, the social moments are the greatest!

So nice to be able to play killer with a friend, and the survivor side is so fun too. What are you running? I love playing scout on survivor, the aura reads are huge and being able to bring pallets back to dead zones is super fun. On killer we've been rolling with Huntress/Oni, but I'm sure we'll do some Mastermind/Trapper as well.

A great part of DBD is designing and playing interesting builds, whether the build is designed to be generally strong, to counter some play style you hate, or just to do something goofy once or twice a game.

With that in mind, why don't we post some builds we like to play for others to try out!
