This literally says nothing useful about any of these alternative apps or why they're better to use than the tech options

No, but any reason to use these apps over the corporate ones for those who don't care (most people) would be nice

It does mention supporting your local bookstore and libraries. You can also get Audiobooks for free (minus a library card), so there is a financial benefit.
