I find it useful to remember that entertainment products are designed to be both understandable and fun, where real life was not designed to be understandable and fun.

With that in mind, no, I would not.

Stories are usually about notable events, which in a dystopian setting generally means the rare win for the little guy. It's important to remember that if the apocalypse were real, none of us would be a hero; the day-to-day mundane life for non-extraordinary people would still be an inescapable hell.
