Here's a good read, landward has done plenty on lack of fish in our rivers in recent years too

Also, not one mention of salmon farming in here. Trees are undoubtedly part of the answer, but to not mention salmon farming seems willfully negligence from the guardian

No story from STV, or the BBC on this poll. So here's Bella. Tories switching almost wholesale to Reform is a sad sight. Have they no self respect?

Another minority SNP government looking likely next year in essence. Greens continuing to grow. Reform looking very likely to take their first Scottish elected seats, which is scary imo. Though like Mike Small here I don't expect the scale predicted here. Alba have to face facts, Swinney has side-stepped them and brought back those who disliked Sturgeon. There time is nearly up. Labour continuing to flounder and almighty fuck up. Only one route to their Holyrood re-election imo. Separate from UK Labour and stand neutral on Independence. Tories are fucked. Good. But the new Tories aren't going to be any better, we may well be better the devil we know with the current useless tosspots

Well done to whatever tech workers managed to restore these in about 2 weeks. M&S didn't manage it in 2 months! Of course, what we aren't seeing is the incident analysis and attack vectors employed. You can bet your house that this will be a human failure somewhere due to lack of investment in some crticial area. Mostly gone are the zero days exploits of old

A shame in some ways to see these come down. Many a story will have come from the 60+ years they were up. But highrises are also a source of far to many of societies ills and were used by councils to house the undesirables instead. Great to see them come down!

All the SNP will be voting against this so we are all more aware. Anyone who knows anyone on UC and/or PIP knows they are already hard to get by on. Shame on Starmer

Pretty important as the SGP get back a member for voting. And the debate about who is next comes back around, as it does every Holyrood election. The pressure I'm pretty sure will be on the tories to provide one, but with reform snapping at their heels, will they even have 10 to offer up 1 msp next time?

Happy Sunday folks

Modified the title to be less clickbait, dissapointing from the BBC continuing to do this. But what a day for Dunoon! Sounds a hoot if you're a local, and great to see it inspire locals to take it up too

The UK government has announced the start of a major project to modernise the nuclear base in Faslane on the west coast of Scotland. An initial £250 million will be allocated in the first phase — just a small part of a massive, decades-long plan that could cost billions.

Critics argue that instead of investing in social needs and renewable energy, the government continues to spend vast sums on nuclear weapons. At the same time, the administration announced funding of £14.2 billion for the construction of Sizewell C nuclear power plant in England, and an additional £6 billion for the development of the UK’s submarine defence industry, including BAE Systems and Rolls-Royce Submarines.

Meanwhile, four ageing Vanguard -class submarines stationed at Faslane have long exceeded their intended 25-year lifespan. The new Dreadnought -class submarines, currently under construction in Barrow, are due to replace them in the 2030s — but experts have already warned of delays and potential budget overruns.

The Scottish National Party (SNP) has strongly condemned these plans, pointing out that since coming to power, Labour has channelled £36 billion into energy projects in England while largely ignoring Scotland. In their view, the nuclear programme is a costly “white elephant” that serves neither the public interest nor the majority of the population.

Former government advisor Dominic Cummings previously described the UK’s nuclear infrastructure as a hidden scandal — dangerous, outdated, and extremely expensive.

The Government seeks to make sure no-one falls below the poverty line again. UKGov could stand to learn from this.
