Getting banned is stupid unless you're actually trolling, but temp bans are quite alright.
I've gotten perma banned on reddit for very tame views, I once criticized ff14 in the ff14 subreddit. never again I guess.
That's not to say I agree with whatever ban you got, I don't know what went on or if it was right. Just advocating for temp bans.
A lot of the time it was for things like "that's stupid". Been permanently banned a couple times for just not agreeing with the viewpoints in the comm
