@coco0330@lemmygrad.ml Well when they were formed they were against the US backed shah of Iran and did partake in the '79 revolution. After the revolution they took position against the theocracy. So they launched armed insurgency against the government and the Islamic republic responded to it with brutal crackdown. Later, Saddam Hussein gave them refuge and used them as a proxy against Iran in the Iraq-iran war. They participated in many military operations alongside the Iraq army. So that's the historical reason. Now they try to appeal the west as an alternative to the current Islamic regime to gain their support.
