I dont know if this is specifically a western values thing, over here in NZ we are in the right in both instances. Same with australia, france and a fair few other western countries. Seems to just be how closely the nations align to the US

How are we playing both sides? My government is very vocal when it has ethical concerns, even with friendly nations as shown by our stance on palestine

Seriously?! People need to stop making this a west vs east thing. Genocide is wrong—whether it’s the chinese or israeli or us government doing it. I’m so sick of this east vs west discourse, when there have been genocides on both sides of the globe. It’s all evil, and if you can’t say that, then youre the one with a problem.

Pretty sure that Aus and NZ are generally included in "the West" even if they're on the other side of the world to Europe. Their dominant cultures and political structures have strong roots in the UK and other European countries, same with Canada and, to some degree, the US.
