We are "special" in that we are an outlier in the intelligence and tool use department, making us affect multiple keystone species in our "wild" form and the whole world in our educated state. Also, human biomass is currently bigger than all other (non-domesticated) mammals together.

But yes, we share this spaceship with all other life and should not consider it our possession, but us as guests. Especially, since we repeatedly underestimated side-effects of us "managing" it. We do have more "might" than other animals and should be conscious of it.

And sure, Oxygenation event & co. were also caused by life. But cyanobacteria can't reflect on it and do better.

i agree with our dear departed Mr. (Sir?) Adams on this one. Dolphins are smarter, they returned to the sea. Otters too. Same with cats. I ain't figured out how to get anyone to pick up my shits. How they figured that, I have been asking and they have not been telling.
