The straw that breaks the camel's back.
The issue isn't the cost of things, it's the income and wealth disparity. That's a problem that has been getting worse for decades, a noose that's been getting tighter and tighter, but people are just falling over dead quietly.
A huge gas price increase, like you said, would break the livelihood of most of the country. If this doesn't get everyone up in arms against the government, against the mega rich, against the pedos that are exploiting them, then nothing will ever change.
