Sensing some negativity, but I don’t get why. I’m looking forward to this.

  1. Trailers seem interested in selling me on a character more than a bunch of loud action set pieces and end-of-the-world stakes.
  2. Momoa may not have a lot of range, but he has a tonne of charisma and I always enjoy watching him.
  3. More Krypto.

That's totally fair. I wish I had your optimism.

I never liked DC to begin with, but not liking the source material usually doesn't stop me from enjoying a good movie. It's just that I have zero faith in these Hollywood movie studios anymore. The very fact that it's yet another superhero movie is enough for me to not watch it.

Sorry for the rant. I really hope you enjoy it though, and I mean that!

I get being burnt on superhero movies. I don’t think it’s terribly healthy how they’ve oversaturated the market. I’m just lucky that I can still enjoy the good ones despite that, and I counted Superman among those. But yeah, if a disinterest in Supergirl is just a specific case of a general disinterest in superhero movies that makes complete sense to me.

Mamoa has two characters, angry barbarian and grumpy but kind barbarian. The former is flat, the latter is lovable.

Yeah, that’s fair to say. I’d be concerned if he were the lead, but as some kind of reluctant sidekick I think he’ll be fun.
