Love and Deepsace, which is a waifu/husbando rpg, does about 30-40 million a month.

The production studio King, Candy Crush's studio, reports 80-100 million monthly.

One of my coworkers and his wife plays a somewhat old-school p2w chibi RPG, and in the last 14 months spent 28k. When he told me i did not believe him and this motherfucker pulled up his actual god damn receipts.

I was stunned.... for what its worth he is pretty fucking stupid as well.

At what point does gamblers anonymous split off to form mobile gamers anonymous. That's insane. My mind doesn't reconcile it, because I'd never spend a dime. And I make sure to put it in my kids heads, starting with Roblox, that we will not spend a dime to cheat at some stupid game. And so now they agree it's cheating, so I feel like I've done something.

I seriously wonder how dumb people like that are able to apparently get such high-paying jobs that they can afford all this gambling?

The thing about addictions is that they scale to fit your lifestyle until they kind of suddenly don't. Degenerate gamblers are the addicts that make me the saddest. I worked at a casino for a while and lived in a gambling focused town. Seeing the way the casinos would take advantage of these people and then blame the addict for going too far was sickening. These places are designed to separate whales from money not for casual gaming no matter what the commercials say. The biggest spenders (I could see money in vs money played) were not often rich people.

Being educated, or good at your job, doesn't protect you from addiction.
And wealth doesn't correlate with intelligence either.
