I hate to break out to you but most traffic poles and signs are designed to break away, so they won't help protect you much. You're post of the "clear zone" so idiots in cars don't die when they hit things on the side of the road when they are not paying attention to driving. I guess pedestrians are included in that. Telephone poles, on the other hand are not designed to break away. (Obviously trees too)
