That was before he cast a black woman to play "the face that launched a thousand ships" and a trans man to play... well, anyone, really.

Not really. He's not as overrated as he used to be. People have started seeing through his Grand visuals combined with a heavy score. He's being heavily criticised for not able to write female characters.
