An asynchronous phone call I don't have to bother about right away. So with all negativities about voice messages, at least they're better than a phone call ๐

Yep, and it signifies emotions in a way emojis can't.
Back in my day, writing could signify your emotions.
I mean, they serve a purpose and I'm sure sight impaired people use it well...but I live in a country where in speak the language as a second, learning it lateer in life than is useful and goddamn if I don't prefer texts I can clarify with a translation app.
