Has me wondering if underground infrastructure is an issue. I see shrubs in pots, which is what eventually happens when people are told to plant trees and they can't because there's "too much shit underground." I'm paraphrasing of course, but that's the gist of it.

Oh yeah you're probably absolutely correct. With the proper infrastructure it can probably still be done but that definitely makes it more difficult.

In those kinds of situations other good options are green walls, vine trellises, etc.

With those other good options the building owners are often against. They fear damage to building from roots or plants attaching directly to the facade, although there are many plants where that's not an issue
