I once tried to walk to the Rome airport Ciampino. There was a metro station behind it, you could see the airfield but had to circle it to get to the entrance (1h walk). Walked south until I reached the highway. Had to turn back and walked north until another highway. Had to get the bus and nearly missed my flight. Will never go there again.
