Nah purple is the usual add/delete a word/phrase/part of a word, while green is the a normal category linked by a theme.

Can some one clue me in on purple. This seemed to be a tough one today.

I get the others but Sound Barrier does not ring a bell for sound being a body of water.

A sound is just another type of body of water, kind of like an inlet. Billy Joel mentions Block Island Sound in his song Downeaster Alexa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_%28geography%29

I almost fell for the rainbow herring. It was the first thing I saw, but then some of the blue stuff seemed pretty obvious together, then when I found the yellow I was pretty sure my initial thought was a herring. Didn't see purple til I'd eliminated everything else though.
