Plans lodged with the state government in October last year aimed to incorporate the heritage-listed landmark into a 34-storey tower.

I want to see a 34 story building with that thing on top.

Hahaha me too.

If someone wants an example of incorporating an old building into a tower, here's a decent example: https://maps.app.goo.gl/iT1WLoxpnRyqvPDQ6

That being said, all developers are greedy fucks, so don't believe anything they say

"Heritage-listed" is just shorthand for "fire liability until developer gets their way".

"Oh no. It caught fire. Again. That's terrible. I hope the ruins don't catch fire again next month, it would completely nullify my plans for a tasteful renovation incorporating the historical elements of this local landmark and instead I would be forced to build a 30 storey apartment block. So terrible."
