Maybe Elrond should have voted against the ring.
I purchased a gun before Trump took office and have been practicing at the range, as well as encouraging everyone I know to do the same. Arm yourself and prepare, this only ends one way.
I too am a recent gun owner. I agree that preparation is necessary, but I disagree that it only ends one way. I will advocate for peaceful means of resistance until they are no longer possible. Have hope in the face of our enemies!
The enemy is fascism, and fascists are only dealt with one way. Protesting does nothing against Nazis, especially peaceful protests, it just gives them easy targets. We tried protest, negotiation, appeasement, and more when it came to Hitler and his Nazis, and only One Thing worked to get rid of them. Prepare, organize, and fight back against the fascists.
Unless your practicing in a group and developing tactics, you're right it does only end one way.
I don't know how many armed people are coming, but if you're alone I do know how it ends...
At least we never went socialist.
That will provide me a lot of comfort when the Fascists brutally murder me and my family for our dissent. At least they weren't filthy socialists that tried to feed, cloth, or house anyone without condition. What a nightmare hellscape that would have been.
Destroy the country to "own the libs". What a world and they wanted this so they can make memes instead of trying to do anything.
I've said it once and I'll say it again … a large portion of the current democratic party is rich. The DNC serves corporations not the people. They are controlled opposition. They will keep the status quo as long as they get to continue living their cushy lifestyle. The whole system is corrupt and that includes the DNC, they won’t be saving us.
It's interesting how when the Democrats are in power they struggle to get legislation across the line, get "outraged" when Republicans stymie their efforts, and eventually agree to cut bills down to the point where they're achieving a fraction of what they were supposed to.
But when Republicans are in power, Dems seem incapable of putting up any resistance and cry to their voters that if only they just had a few more donation dollars they'd be able to defeat fascism and then turn around and let the Republicans pass whatever awful legislation they want.
"Liberals will win majority of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, CNN projects"
The one on the right should be "Edgelord leftists posting on Lemmy"
I mean I'm not gonna deny that some like Schumer have been totally useless. But over the last few months "liberals doing nothing" has included halving Tesla's stock price and winning the Supreme Court in a state that went Trump. In prediction markets future races are looking bad for Republicans. Don't like what democrats are doing? Great, go run or support a candidate you do like. Or better yet, run as a Republican and do a hostile takeover of that party so you can challenge democrats from the left in the general too. There's enough anger at Republicans now that it could actually work, especially in safe blue districts.
So does Pokémon canonical have Jesus being nailed on the cross? Maybe it was Mew the only son of Arcaues? Would make Mewtwo the Antichrist?
Whenever I see posts like this, my question is: What constitutes "something?"
Democrats vote against all the Republican bills.
Cory Booker is filibustering a bunch of judicial appointments.
They're banging the drum about how horrible everything Trump is doing is.
They support the suits and the protests.
What do you want? It seems like people just want to complain about the Democrats regardless of the realities of the situation.
Democrats vote against all the Republican bills
If this were even true (what was Schumer in hot water over again?), what the fuck does 'voting against republican bills' do when the black-shirts are already rounding up immigrants?
Democrats can't run around screaming about the end of democracy for 8 years and then wax romantic about the need for 'bipartisanship' when they're starting to line people up against the wall.
1- If Democrats had voted against all Republican bills, we'd be in a shutdown right now.
2- Booker's filibuster is good. There were also many, many options available to Democrats early in the confirmation process that they chose not to take. For example, if they demanded unanimous consent on every procedure, a roll call roll vote would be required to move anything forward. They could file deleterious motions constantly to slow everything down. McConnell successfully used these tactics just a few months ago to force Schumer cut a deal on judicial appointments at the end of the last Congress.
3- The suits are being brought by Democratic Attorneys General, who have been killing it. They remember how dangerous Trump was and prepared accordingly. The national Democrats, however, clearly had no plan other than, "Kamala will win," and didn't adapt at all in the months between the election and the inauguration.
Chuck Schumer is the poster boy for this shortsightedness. The only possible explanation for his actions on the budget bill is that he assumed at least a few House Republicans would defect and the bill wouldn't reach the Senate. When that didn't happen, he had to suddenly decided between funding the government, which would a terrible move since (aside from being an awful bill) every House Democrat had just stuck their neck out to try to shoot it down, or defunding the government, which had its own risks, but it's own benefits as well. Not only did he make the wrong choice, but he made it so abruptly he threw his entire party into chaos.
4- All of this is indicative of a party that is working from an out of date playbook that is hopeless obsolete in the face of fascism. Schumer and James Carvil started the term by telling Democrats to lay low and wait for Trump to screw up. Jefferies was advocating for bipartisanship for the fiest two months of the administration. The general consensus is that the legislative branch is completely helpless, and they simply need to wait for the courts to save us.
None of this will work. The Trump administration's fuck-ups don't matter if they're not planning on holding free and fair elections. Bipartisanship has been dead for almost 20 years. Court rulings won't save us; Trump is already defying court orders, and the Supreme Court has been pack with regime loyalists. Some Senators, like Booker, seem to be waking up to these realities, but the entire Democratic party needs to be looking to every single opportunity to slow and obstruct the Trump regime, and the leadership is not doing that.
Defeating the Trump administration will require widespread public mobilization and and an opposition party that's ready to play hardball. The Democratiic leadership seems to content with only doing the first half, and fundraising in lieu of opposition. That's going to get us all killed.
cory booker is, at the time I'm writing, filibustering the senate and preventing any actions by the fascist-controlled Congress
if he continues for 30,000 hours, the trump administration will be over and he'll have singlehandedly saved what's left of democracy. that would be unlikely, but, maybe it wouldn't be hard for 30000 people to slow down fascism by one hour each. or 2 million people to slow fascism down by a minute.
So all the judges stopping his bullshit from passing is nothing? Along with the judges that overturn his bullshit, that’s nothing also? And Corey Booker’s 19 hour long (and counting) filibuster is nothing? What about all the people that actually VOTED to try and stop this from happening in the first place? Or the people that fucking warned you this would happen.
Nothing?
You all seem to have an odd definition of “doing nothing” that’s for sure. Maybe if you all… did nothing instead of staying home during an election we’d be in a much better place.
