That does kind of explain a lot.
I know we're all in our own occasionally overlapping echo chambers, but the betting odds and prediction markets still tend to favor Trump, some of the larger ones pretty heavily. It's very disconnected from the narrative I've been seeing about Kamala here and elsewhere, I hope that narrative is right, but still doesn't line up.
It's kind of sad, but we have to temper expectations on both of the candidates. These two both hit retirement age over a decade ago and we're trying to put them in potentially the most stressful job in the nation.
I could just keep going forever on these. I am not sure that this is the job for anyone so far removed from their prime.
I definitely support that we've pushed this show out of the forefront, but this is where a lot of the arguments for the flag as a 'symbol of southern pride' come from. It's a weird argument, and it is definitely not a fair one, but there's very fond associations in the south with that car even from people who had no clue where the flag came from. Super successful attempt to help the confederate flag be seen as acceptable, whether on purpose or not.
It's a weird show too for someone who isn't from the south... Racial diversity is non-existent in the show, but that's also pretty accurate for its location... It had some awesome car scenes, but no depth. The only hot take in the show beyond the flag painted on top (which wasn't even a hot take then) was that the government was widely seen as corrupt and it was more than a bit sexist.
It's real confusing.
They state that they've done this right there, but it seems like there might have been a miscommunication somewhere and doesn't look like anyone ever actually got around to removing the block at a technical level. Both piracy communities are still currently blocked on lemmy.world a year later.
