I've noticed that if I rotate my device, and then back, the feed contains posts that have been read. They show as read, faded, but are in the feed until I refresh. Then they go away. I don't know if that's related or not.

Once you pay for it, it's your device, not theirs.
A person not knowing the difference in usage between except and accept sounds like a perfectly reasonable reason to disregard their math skills.
This is the kind of idiocy that actively prevents migration from windows. Even though I've used Linux off and on for 20 years, after reading this I have zero interest in fedora. Whatever their reasoning, it seems like they (best case) don't care about usability. Worst case, they are using it as gatekeeping.
