The @ behind your Username says lemm.ee , so yes you are a lemm.ee user

Different codebase, as far as I understand it. Not sure how different the API is (well they claim it's 95% the same).

I am not sure how much work it would be to make boost work with Piefed.

But I'm at the same dilemma right now: do I want to switch to a piefed instance and try it out? Then I'd need to abandon boost and use an UI that I consider worse. Or I pick another lemmy instance so I can keep using boost.

Having the ability to use piefed with boost would be awesome.

They fund interesting projects anyways. It's not like all donations go into managers pockets. But yes it is something to keep in mind for sure.

Which is actually where donating to them can help. They fund editathons, outreach efforts, events, and conferences, some of which explicitly focus on getting information into Wikipedia from underrepresented areas or people.

Not just political efforts - for example they fund their outreach programs and workshops for disadvantaged people to get their specialized knowledge onto Wikipedia.

But yeah, hosting is already funded therefore I dont currently feel the need to donate to Wikimedia.

A pinned post making the official stance clear similar to the reddit one should definitely exist imo – no matter what else is decided.

Gerät eine Wandergruppe selbstverschuldet in Österreich in Bergnot, kann man jedes Mal wieder annehmen, dass es Deutsche sind.. und liegt fast immer richtig.

All news articles about Rowling are posted all across Lemmy. It's not like people on here don't know what she is doing or what views she has. And discussion on her has way more engagement on these other Lemmy communities than in this one – because user engagement in here is not high in general. Even if this community would be shifted to only talk about her, that would not generate good discussions because there is not much engagement.

It is basically impossible to discuss anything about this fictional Harry Potter universe anywhere on Lemmy because it gets down voted into oblivion. Taking away this small corner of Lemmy that can be used for this is really not cool IMO.

Let people simply enjoy posting about childhood memories and pirating this new content while hating Rowling. Why is that so hard? For all means, create a new community exclusively focused on Rowling and trolling her. I'll support that. But this community here is not the right place for that. Because it derails the actual focus of the community.

Proceed for potential spoilers:

These are current rumours published indepently of each other by both "TheAvatarist" and Caleb Williams (Knight Edge Media). We know from official information that Avatar Studios are developing an animated TV series, which will feature the next Avatar in the cycle after Aang and Korra, the Earthbending Avatar. This series is expected to debut exclusively on Paramount+.

BE WARNED that the spoiler tag includes heavy spoilers about potential setting, characters and story of the show.

According to Caleb Williams, the main character we are following will first appear as a homeless young girl accompanied by a large feline animal guide, and will miss her left leg. This he has apparently verified. TheAvatarist also confirms that the main character will be a girl with a peg leg and she has a big cat-like animal companion. He says that she seems to be an outcast of society, with no one considering her to be the Avatar. Instead, according to TheAvatarist, her twin has been identified as the Avatar and raised separated from a young age.

According to TheAvatarist (and treated as a rumour by Caleb Williams), the story seems set in a post-apocalyptic world (based on seeing two episode animatics). TheAvatarist says he hears the "seven havens" are the cities where the remaining people live and outside them is post apocalyptic.

According to TheAvatarist, the people in general seem to hold Korra responsible for the apocalyptic event and therefore hate the current Avatar, which is why the main character's twin has been taken into hiding by the White Lotus.
