I'm starting to wonder if this is the reason Trump et al have had so little to say about the movement. Maybe they were counting on it imploding at some point. Who knows if they had info we don't.

After having combed through all the relevant posts and comments, including deleted ones, it is clear to me that this was a power grab.

Whether or not it was done with the best interests of 50501 in mind remains to be seen. My read on the situation doesn't have high hopes for that. Now would be the time to refocus on the local level. We are supposed to be decentralized; this movement is more than the couple of asshats at the top.

I've taken the liberty of backing up all relevant posts involving Evolved_Fungi using screenshots and reddit backup sites.

Without making another post that gets too far into the weeds: I'd recommend everyone be very cautious regarding any PACs claiming to represent 50501 on a national level in the near future. We are supposed to be decentralized, so any such maneuvers would need dramatic transparency, which I am not terribly hopeful for at this point in time. Donate LOCALLY first and foremost. The local level is the most actionable level for individuals. The goals of the movement haven't changed and never will change, regardless of who has the reins at the top. That's the beauty of a decentralized movement.

I'm gonna urge you to reconsider. I think bringing them along to DC is a really bad idea. I'm not so much worried about the protesters, but rather what Trump et al will do. There's real fear about how far they will be willing to go (consider what Trump was willing to do just for a photo op in his first term).

I know you mentioned that you would get out of dodge quick if things turned south, but you won't be the only one with this instinct. The crowd will likely be massive enough to the point that little ol' DC's transportation infrastructure won't be able to handle a sudden mass exodus (Edit: Depending on the time of day I suppose. I understand that DC has a large commuter pop). To the point that just trying to leave could become dangerous (for reasons like crowd crush, auto accidents, that kind of thing). Granted, that's basically the worst case scenario and under the assumption that there will be at least somewhere on the order of thousands of protesters (it might be much smaller, who can say at this point).

I really respect wanting to raise them to be politically conscious, but perhaps doing it from afar would be a better idea this time around.
