For a few months I've been using local instances of searxng. I've got it running on my laptop and on Termux on my phone. It's been fine for me. It's not always the quickest, but I'm ok with it.

It seems the father was making excuses to deflect away from his mistreatment/abuse/neglect.

I bought a Pixel 8 and grapheneos says minimum 7 years support. I'm hoping I can not break it for that long and that the battery and everything lasts. I won't be too upset if I can get 4 years out of it though.
I like the hostnames plugin too. I can rewrite URLs (for example x to xcancel) and also give higher or lower priority to certain domains (or remove them completely.)
