Amazon.com Inc. founder Jeff Bezos has argued that the huge surge of investment in artificial intelligence is fuelling a “good” kind of bubble, delivering lasting benefits for society even if share prices collapse as dramatically as his ecommerce company’s did 25 years ago. “This is kind of an industrial bubble as opposed to financial bubbles,” Bezos said at a tech conference in Turin on Friday, drawing parallels with the dotcom-era investment in fibre-optic cable that outlasted many of the companies who deployed it and the “life-saving drugs” that emerged from the 1990s biotech boom and bust. “The banking bubble, the crisis in the banking system, that’s just bad, that’s like 2008. Those bubbles society wants to avoid,” he said. “The ones that are industrial are not nearly as bad, they can even be good. Because when the dust settles and you see who are the winners — society benefits from those inventions,” he continued. “That’s what is going to happen here too. This is real. The benefits to society from AI are going to be gigantic.” [...]

Republican Senator Ted Cruz thinks we need to “stop attacking pedophiles.”
The Texas senator made the brutal (potentially) Freudian slip during a Senate hearing about crime on Tuesday.
“Senator Booker also said we should have bipartisan agreement. I think that’s a great idea, we should have bipartisan agreement,” Cruz said. “How ’bout we all come together and say, ‘Let’s stop murders?’ How ’bout we all come together and say, ‘Let’s stop rapes?’ How ’bout we all come together and say, ‘Let’s stop attacking pedophiles?’” [...]

(other outlets portray it as more clearly a mistake, but we're rewarding the outlet leaning into the clickbait because it's more onion-y 🫠)

The goal is to create hundreds of specialized coding and generative AI agents. 'It should be possible to simulate [Microsoft] entirely with AI,' Musk says.

This is the same system that Tesla fans have been insisting for years is a better-than-human driver.

... What the fuck? This system isn't better than a learner's permit holder

After the Trump-backed “Big Beautiful Bill” passed both the House and Senate, one social media user protested, “17 million people just lost health care. 18 million kids just lost school meals. 3 million Americans just lost food assistance.”

Van Orden responded to the post, “YES!”

After he received backlash, the post was quickly deleted, with the congressman claiming he had meant to reply to a different post.

Imagine a taxi that can't operate in the rain. That is what Tesla has delivered in Austin TX.

These riders learned that the hard way, but don't have anything particularly negative to say about it... That's the advantage of only making a Robotaxi service available to hand-picked Tesla influencers.

We’re getting the first videos of “select guests” getting access to Tesla’s Robotaxi service in Austin, and the level of polish leaves something to be desired.

For instance, one gaggle of Tesla influencers was dropped off directly in an intersection, leading to these wooly screenshots.

The absurdity of the proposal is already in the title, and shows how motonormativity is spread all over the world.

Berlin has a very good public transit system, and a few 30 km/h zones cannot be that bad.

I would love to hear opinions from someone who lives there!
