I think Tom missed an even better option: photochromic cycling glasses.

I picked up a pair of Ryders Roam photochromic glasses when the company went out of business... $200+ glasses for like $30. Best purchase ever.

You can wear them at night, during sunny days, go from outdoor to indoor without taking them off (i.e running errands by bike), they are fairly anti-fog, sweat isn't an issue, rain isn't a problem. And I've worn them all-year-round because they offer awesome wind/cold/bug protection.

Invest in a good pair of photochromic cycling glasses and call it a day!

I am going to start commuting on bike about 7km out of my total 20km each way in the coming weeks. My current bike rack is a SportRack platform for 4 bikes. It is heavy, very long, and doesn’t fold up. The place I will be parking is quite narrow, and I can’t have a 5 foot platform sticking out waiting for someone to drive into it, so I’ve been researching new options. I need a rack for one bike for daily commuting, would be nice to have an addon for 2 more.

I can’t find much on them, the three reviews on the site are positive but I don’t know if I trust them. The racks are out of stock on their shopify store, but are available on eBay and Amazon, seller reviews are positive but nothing on the products. They’re quite expensive, so I’m hesitant. They look really solid, aluminum like the 1up but cheaper. I like that I could have the 1 bike option on for commuting, and daily use without blocking my license plate, then attach the two extensions for weekend bike rides with friends in just a couple of minutes (what I would call a 1+2 setup).

Has anyone here heard of these before? Any similar options? I’ve looked at all of the kuat, Thule, rockymounts options. I think rockymounts monorail would be a similar option available locally (though 2+1 setup, not my preferred 1+2), but higher price tag.

I'm intending to buy some gloves to use for commuting on cold days. I'm looking for something wind-proof, fairly light, and hopefully a bit water resistant.

Here are three sets of gloves that I've been looking at:

• Outdoor Research, commuter windstopper gloves
• Arc'teryx, Venta gloves
• Rab, Vapour-Rise gloves

I don't really know if any of those are good options. But they seem roughly what I'm looking for.

I'm wondering what gloves other people wear, and if you have any recommendations.

[edit] Although the primary purpose of the gloves is for commuting; I'd also like them to be my general "go to" gloves for whenever they are needed when visiting cold places.

Shifter is a youtube/peertube channel with lot of great insights on cycling.

can't afford one and don't know how to ride one

So this week is the European Mobolity Week. This year the topic is sharing of public space, but in this community it's all about bike commuting!

How is your commute?

Mine is pure urban area (Milan, Italy), 12 km, some 50% on cycle lanes/path, the rest in the traffic.

Cable disc brakes. I kept putting it off but it was riding like shit and didn't feel safe, brake levers nearly contacting the handlebar. I had it in my head that the adjustment was like a 30 minute job. Grabbed Allen wrenches, a couple third hands, screwdrivers. 5 minutes and two Allen bolts later, all done. Topped off the tires with air, quick test ride, meat's back on the menu. No real point to this post, but maybe you've made a quick adjustment or repair that made you happy?

I want to give away some bike lights. Does anybody have recommendations on some low cost bike lights?

I would like to ride more in the rain. What are some of this community's preferences around rain ponchos?

Does anyone have any recommendations for tiny bike pumps to keep on my commuter? Durability is preferred, but I don't want to break the bank if it gets stolen.

Hi, I commute to work (7km each way) and somehow I feel that by bike could be more sporty.

Instead of buying a new bike, I'd like to know tips on how can I changey seat and handlebars to get this feeling.

Two men accused of driving up to cyclists in rural south-west France and pushing them into ditches for fun have gone on trial in Toulouse for organised violence and could face up to five years in prison.

The two men, aged 20 and 22, were arrested last year after a spate of cyclists being pushed off their bikes on quiet country roads. One victim told the newspaper La Dépêche: “It was April … I’d gone out on my bike for the afternoon. When I got to a little country road … I felt a car was following me silently. Hello fellow bike commuters,

I have the impression that my underwear doesn't last as long as it would without me cycling to and from work five times a week. My boxer briefs get holes too quickly between the legs. Since I can't remember a time where I didn't cycle, it's difficult for me to know if this is due to cycling or the normal way for them to die.

Can anyone here tell me about their experience? Is this related to cycling frequently? More importantly, do you know of special cyclist underwear which is not the sporty padded type but something you could wear all day and which would't rip so easily.

Love this website, the layout is great and the explanations are simple and straight-forward.
