The URL is just an example of what I'm seeing. I'm on version 27.7 on Android version 13 on my Pixel phone and Chromebook version... Crap. I forget. I'll add that info later.

Is there ANY WAY in @newpipe , that you CAN NOT wipe out the current on-the-fly #playlist? ? (Or get a confirmation #prompt before doing it.)

The “normal„ and voluntary way to do so is the cross in the upper-left corner.

But if you mis-tap the screen or open a video from a browser… or other manipulations… the app focuses on the new video, and the temporary playlist is “lost„.
Ya see what I mean?

Zum Abschalten schau ich mir manchmal #youtube #shorts an. Ich würde gerne die App durch Alternativen wie @newpipe oder @libretube ersetzen. Allerdings kann ich dort nicht gezielt shorts ansehen. Übersehe ich etwas oder kennt jemand gute Alternativen dazu?

When downloading in a (desktop) web browser, the file is saved under a temporary name, and then renamed when the download is finished.

Could newpipe do the same on Android? Maybe as a setting, if anyone depends on how it currently works?

Reason? I use newpipe to download Youtube videos on wifi, then watch them in VLC later. But VLC is really bad at refreshing its cache, and if it ever sees a 0 byte file that Newpipe is getting ready to download, it will cache this file as unplayable. Renaming the file after the download finishes solves the problem.

You could argue that this is a VLC bug, but 1. Web browsers already do this (at least on desktop), and 2. There are 10+ year old ignored bug reports about this on the VLC bug tracker.

Adding a rename to Newpipe is probably much easier than fixing whatever mess the VLC cache is.

When watching videos in #newpipe or #tubular in landscape mode some videos get cropped. How can I change this? I am using #pixel 6a with #grapheneos.

Piped und NewPipe funktionieren wieder nicht. Welche Möglichkeiten gibt es noch um Videos von YouTube datenschutzfreundlich zu schauen? Oder gibt es bald ein Update? YouTube scheint wieder alles zu blocken.
Ist Grapheneos ein Problem? Bis gestern klappte noch alles mit NewPipe. Hat sonst noch jemand Probleme damit? 🙂

So YouTube is not working again. I've tried PipePipe just to make sure I hadn't borked it on my side, but it didn't work either.

On the great side, PeerTube is still working great.

If anyone know how to get back on track, I'd love to know about it.

Is there a way to hide particular live streams from showing up on the "What's New" tab? I found the option in Settings->Content->Fetch Channel Tabs which will prevent all live streams from showing in the tab. But I'm looking for an option to selective hide only certain live streams from the tab.

Some of my YouTube channels have 24/7 live streams (eg Arising Empire), which will always show at the top of the page. But I don't want to hide all live streams from all channels, since I do want to see if new live streams appear, usually ones that aren't 24/7.

Ideally, there'd be an option to long-press on a live stream in the tab, one which says "Hide From Feed", which would then prevent that particular stream ID from appearing in the feed for subsequent fetches.

From an implementation perspective, I imagine there would be some UI complexity in how to un-hide a stream, and to list out all hidden streams. If this isn't possible yet, I can try to draft a feature proposal later.

Account registration has been enabled again because I got a lot of emails asking for Invidious accounts. They will be closed on February 26th at 00:00 UTC so make sure to make an account if you want one because I will not reply to emails asking for accounts in the future.

Cause Invidios is my way to go if Newpipe doesn't work, I thought you might be interested too.

The frowning face that pops up when the internet connection drops out or Youtube breaks something. I don't know if it's how suddenly it pops up, my horror and true crime habit, or its lifeless eyes, but I have a jarring and visceral reaction when it shows up.

It's all subjective I suppose, and I could make personal builds to patch it out, so I don't know if it merits me making a Github account and raising an issue. I'm curious if anyone else feels the same way about the frowning face error.

At the top of the What's New tab there's the first line stating the last time the feed was updated.

I've been seeing for quite some time now an extra line there saying "Not loaded: 1". My guess is that one of the subscribed channels doesn't exists anymore. If that is correct, is there a way to know what channel is other than trying one by one?

If it something else, please, what is it? I won't loose sleep but it is bugging me enough to post about it after not being capable of googling (or duckducking) the answer.

Recently, I've been met with error messages trying to listen to bandcamp songs and playlists. At least once a day I see a notice about a captcha that needs solving, with the options "Solve/Retry/Open in browser".

The first throws a "webpage not found" error; the second just hits the same brick wall; and for some reason the third option gives a system popup that "No apps can perform this action"...

Any known workarounds?

Apparantly, YouTube has fully rolled out their blocking of residential IPs. Things such as Freetube do not seem to be affected.
