It is the London opening. People like to hate it.
Why do they hate it?
It's a decently strong opening that doesn't require much thought. You can play it against damn near any of blacks openings, and generally leads to a strong position, but people like to dog on it since it's a bit "braindead". Gets played even at GM level tho

It is common, some chess celebs don't like it, but not because it is bad strategy.
