It's moreso saying they'd rather suffer a disproportionate workload than deal with group work, for better or worse. It also has the subcommentary that a lot of workloads have their personnel requirements overestimated, or that sometimes interpersonal inefficiency/friction/etc. can turn a 1-person job into an artificially higher workload.

Yea... we all know the job would be easier with people, but um..

I don't want to bug my friends I don't want to (or cant) make new friends I don't have the money to hire people.
