They expect to keep the currency, the military, all federal infrastructure, half of the CPP for the entire country and get a thick pipeline straight through BC.

I remember that when Quebec had their referendum, the Indigenous peoples in that province also had their own referenda to remain in Canada. I also remember a news report of the Indigenous people saying that if Quebec tried to keep the Indigenous lands in the northern regions, they would blow up the power lines to the James Bay project.

Separation would mean civil war, which would mean a perfect excuse for the US military to step in "temporarily" to "protect Canada". In other words, divide and conquer.
