Verified pictures show a US command and control aircraft has been destroyed at an air base in Saudi Arabia.

The pictures appear to have been first shared by a Facebook page carrying US military news. They show the E-3 Sentry aircraft appears to have been split in two.

We've confirmed the photos were taken at the Prince Sultan air base about 100km (62 miles) south-east of the Saudi capital Riyadh. Features seen in the pictures, including pylons, storage units and markings on paved areas, matched with satellite imagery.

Why do so many people on the internet believe that repeating something that someone way funnier than them said is the height of comedy?

[–] BakedCatboy@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

In my defense, I did check if any of the other replies had specifically referenced Clarke and Dawe before I made my comment, and unless federation delay is in play, I don't think I repeated anyone else's reference to the same.

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works -1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

You're repeating clark and dawe though. Don't you have any of your own words?

[–] BakedCatboy@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Ah I see, I thought your criticism was that I was repeating someone else who had already referenced Clark and Dawe in this thread. My mistake. If you just don't like when people reference or repeat commonly known jokes, then you're free to your opinion. I don't think there's really any point in discussing it though, since your issue is predicated on an opinion we don't share.

All it needs is a bit of spit and polish.

'Decapitated' 'Eradicated' 'Eviscerated'

Ok, that last one came from groo. But its on the same level as this administrations competence.

Its a new boat

[–] kunaltyagi@programming.dev 6 points 3 months ago

If this were a B1, maybe not unrepairable. Depends on the airframe.

But this one is gooone

[–] gergolippai@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

it just became shorter

[–] GenosseFlosse@feddit.org 3 points 3 months ago

Let's not jump to conclusions. Cockpit, 2/5 wings and engines still look good on the picture

[–] 7rokhym@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 months ago

It doesn't look like the front fell off. It must be fine!

[–] duckshuffgoose@piefed.social 18 points 3 months ago

Who would have foreseen attacking a county without a plan could possibly have outcomes like this?

[–] humanspiral@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 months ago

US miliary repeatedly denied that this happened. They are certainly lying about casualties as well. Support for war (spending) is dependent on impression of victory, and prospects for escalation.

[–] J3N5T4R@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Got that ass reduction surgery.
