Why is it on slrpnk? A: Climate change is a culprit for migration of animals generally. This forum is focused on human immigration (but perhaps it should be open to climate migration of other species).

And certainly climate need not be relevant. Anything about xenophobic bullying of people for moving about is fair game here. (Solarpunks like their autonomy)

Stats from the radio show:

125,000 immigrants entered NZ in 2025 (according to moderator)
~10k immigrants/yr (on avg) are skilled workers filling shortages (according to an interviewee)
(unrelated to immigration) 1% of GDP is spent on defense

The greens and labor seem like the smart parties in the room. Immigrants are being scapegoated by the govs failure to invest in infrastructure.
