Back in the day I memorized the lyrics and tried to sing along to the hardware story inventory selection part. Since no human have lungs big enough, a friend and I learned to alternate back and forth so we could cover the entire thing.

I've done it straight through a few times when I was younger, but never cleanly. It's damn hard.

[–] whelk@retrolemmy.com 3 points 6 days ago

... matching salt and pepper shakers!

[–] Chais@sh.itjust.works 5 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

I don't know, I just can't give it up. It won't let me put it down. Keeps running around my mind. Desperate for it to desert me...

[–] Magnum@infosec.pub 3 points 6 days ago

None, I charge them insane rates to broadcast directly into my head.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 5 days ago

some of the evangelion ones(rebuilds), they are so good, dont really like the main one that everyone likes.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 2 points 5 days ago

All of them.

I'm sick of it. They need to start paying.

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 6 days ago

Off topic but i wish songs in my head would pay rent.

[–] Ryanmiller70@lemmy.zip 4 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Recently it's been "It's Easy M'Kay" from the South Park movie. Been listening to the songs from that film a lot and for some reason that's the one my brain wants to keep playing over and over.

[–] wolfeh@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 5 days ago

...so just use the word "M'kay"!

[–] MurrayL@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

For me it’s Mountain Town, but yeah that soundtrack is incredibly catchy.

[–] tired_n_bored@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

Don't let me down by Chainsmokers and Daya just because I used to know the singer

[–] whelk@retrolemmy.com 2 points 6 days ago

Car Wash by Rose Royce has been stuck in my head since the movie came out in 1976.

Long term rent free.

Car Wash (long version)

It might not live there, but it pays a regular visit about every other week.

[–] Rivermoonwolf@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Currently it's the theme to Inspector Morse.

Lou Reed - Perfect Day has been a big one for the past few years. Or if something randomly reminds me of any given song I know at all, it can be that one for days. Gets maddening sometimes!

[–] daggermoon@piefed.world 1 points 6 days ago

Depeche Mode - Sacred

I've had this on repeat in my head for a few days now.

[–] MurrayL@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

I always have a song stuck in my head, often for days at a time (right now it’s Zorbing by Stornaway), but there are a handful that come back over and over for years.

The two that come to mind most often are Don’t Go Breaking My Heart by Elton John/Kiki Dee and, weirdly, Babaji by Supertramp.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 6 days ago

many from tull, ridgeway, fyc, b52's

Open Car - Porcupine Tree

This band is so good. It blows my mind more people aren't singing their praises. Criminally underrated.

[–] aviationeast@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (2 children)

They're taking the hobbits to isengard.

What did you say?

[–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

In the last 18 hours, but mostly repeats of every single day of my life:

Everybody has AIDS - Team America

The last half of the Three's Company theme song

Three Small Words - Josie and the Pussycats

SOB - Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats

ABBA - Gimme Gimme Gimme

Edit: Anytime anything good happens, or I pass a car, the little diddy after you hit a goal in Super Mario World.

[–] Wytch@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)
  • Blind Melon - Tones of Home
  • Soundgarden - Blow Up the Outside World
  • Shivaree - Goodnight Moon
  • White Stripes - Seven Nation Army
  • Pet Shop Boys - It's a Sin
  • George Michael - Careless Whisper
  • Q Lazzarus - Goodbye Horses

There are certainly more, but owing to the fact I have to actively work to evict them, I hesitate to put more thought to it.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

"Tones of home" has been in my head so many times. And the past few days, "Jesus Christ pose" by Soundgarden. I haven't heard of some of those other artists so I'll have to check them out.

[–] CarrierLost@infosec.pub 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Dude “Tones of home” is excellent. I love that one and “Galaxie” by them.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Hell yeah! I actually think the Classic Masters album is one of the best greatest hits records ever. Every freaking track on it is a banger. Galaxie I think is track #2 after tones of home, if memory serves.

"Don't be a drag, just be a Queen. Don't be a drag, just be a Queen."

I listen to deathcore, but Gaga is fucking great.

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 6 points 1 week ago

None, they all pay their way.

Because, tangent time, you're using the phrase "rent free in your head" wrong. All of you! It's not just for ideas or memes or songs that stay with you, it's for ones that you're stuck with that don't benefit you at all.

/me shakes cane at clouds

[–] JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I have ADHD, so pretty much every song l, lyric, and line of dialogue I've ever heard or read. And they're playing all at once all the time.

[–] Chais@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 days ago

Ah, so it's not just me.
