Post guidelines

Title formatPost title should mirror the news source title. If you don't like the title of article, look for an alternative source instead of editorializing it.
URL formatPost URL should be the original link to the article (even if paywalled) and archived copies left in the body. It allows avoiding duplicate posts when cross-posting.
[Opinion] prefixOpinion (op-ed) articles must use [Opinion] prefix before the title. Opinion articles refer to articles that their publisher doesn't explictly endorse.
Country prefixCountry prefix can be added to the title with a separator (|, :, etc.) if the news is from a local publisher who doesn't clearly mention the country.

There is so much to unwind here:

  1. phones should not be out at school

  2. it should not be a law. thats overreach. schools have authority to hand out punishment.

  3. children are not the same as adults. their brains are not fully formed. they lack the ability to see consequences and act appropriately based on those future consequences. so being outraged for different rules for chikdren is brain dead.

  1. "critics" paid by tech interests aren't critics.

People are so fucking obnoxious in their desire to solve issues with kids by simply applying more authoritarian rules as if that ever really works.

It does not and condescending kids like this makes them distrust you.

Wtf are grade school kids doing with phones?

Let alone in a classroom.

And I'd say the same for teachers in classrooms.

At work my personal phone is on silent and I only check it at certain times.

This article isn't just talking about grade school.

Rightfully, too. It's not.about education because we know adults don't.give a crap. It's censorship, part of a broader push.

I'll be honest, I don't think focusing on school was in hindsight actually beneficial to be and I can't in good faith shame kids these days from being disengaged from the system.

Gotta get the public comfy w/ that level of overreach early, so they don't grow up thinking, that's all.

glares at 00s' Chromebook scholastic dissemination

Don’t talk to me about “role modeling”. There have been different rules for teachers/admin at schools for as long as there have been schools.
