Exhausting is right. Even when it's benevolent and doesn't turn into a dangerous collapsing hegemon, the USA imposes itself on everything everywhere all the time in a non-subtle way, to put it mildly.

Stupid people are everywhere, news, media and social media only amplify and reinforce it on a global scale. Technology has made us collectively dumber as a society.

Its the not reading books or writing on paper bit IMO. They're learning that those activate more neural paths than typing or watching.

It's because we've built a reality where we let people get away with it,

When any American responds to me in a comment reading "Why do you care about US politics so much, go worry about your own Canadian problems", this pretty much gets to why, and this video does well to go through the entire history from the days of European settlement to modern times.

I'd love to be able to not worry about US politics, but US politics gets pushed on the world both in publicity and in actual ramifications. In other words if Americsns could mind their own business for a bit then I wouldn't need to constantly chime into American politics. The US media apparatus has gotten so bad at coverage and complacent, that I am seeing cbc.ca and CTV news frequently cited here on US politics communities over American outlets, as our outlets are providing the most comprehensive coverage on their own goddamn news.

I really liked this vid, I thought she did a great job. The end was spot on, we not of the U.S. are frustrated and fed up with Americans.

Literally had one say to me "I don't think you guys know how bad it is down here." like my entire life hasn't been royally screwed with because Americans decided they hate women and black people so they elected the pedo-billionaire's senile pet clown.

She makes some good points, but also reactionary ones. By the sixth chapter, she's straight reactionary.
