Because GOP doesnt give a shit about the environment, especially when profits can be increased
which is good i guess because adding 1% fuel efficiency ends up making the engine 15% more expensive at a certain point; you can't go below a certain fuel consumption level but if you try, you pay hard for it.
It's not like it will change much, with the war going on skyrocketing the fuel price
If anything, this is the stupidest response to the fuel crisis 🤣

"(increase) fuel spending by $185 billion", disincentives electric cars. It's wrapped up like it's a good thing, but that's a red herring.
I am not really sure what it means. The CAFE standards we had encouraged larger, less fuel efficient vehicles and discouraged smaller, more efficient ones.
While I wanna shout at the headline, fuel economy standards are something we need to revisit anyway.

Most americans don't pay attention, but it's just insane.
Unfortunately, the U.S. car norms influence Canada. Because Canadian officials copy american car norms. It's the reason why they drive the heaviest and least efficient cars in the world
