25 years of brewing coffee and somehow this is the first time this has happened.

The problem with coffee is you have to make it before you've had your coffee.

Thats why I like my Espresso Coker so much. I can always get two espressos out of one batch, so I usually let the second one cool down and can make myself some ice coffee the next morning.

This happens to me more often than it should. I blame it on the fact I need a coffee to make a proper cup of coffee.

I’m just clumsy. Definitely a at-least-once-a-year occasion

On a spring night in April 1865, the overcrowded steamboat SS Sultana churned up the Mississippi River carrying thousands of Union soldiers newly freed from Confederate prisons. Below deck, the ship’s aging boilers strained under immense pressure; engineers, eager to keep speed, had tied down the safety valve lids that should have released steam. Just after midnight near Memphis, the boilers gave way in a deafening blast that split the vessel apart. Fire roared through the decks as men were hurled into the cold river, many too weak from captivity to swim. By dawn, more than a thousand lives were lost in what became the deadliest maritime disaster in U.S. history.

This is a story about the importance of lids.

Ah yes, aroma dé tableau

[–] kettuli@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Kaadat vaan noi kevarit siihen päälle niin hyvä siitä tulee.

Closer to medium fine I think

[–] thatsnothowyoudoit@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 days ago

That time I wish we had awards to grind out.

[–] ergonomic_importer@piefed.ca 15 points 3 days ago

Hmm seems risky. I'd be worried about the oxidation but I imagine the aromatics really stand out better this way. You'll need to do bench trials to determine the variables for spilling speed, spread, and the counter/floor ratio.

How'd it turn out?

[–] sleepdrifter@startrek.website 12 points 3 days ago

It looks like you got a full scoop in the spoon so I don't see what the problem is?

[–] BeatTakeshi@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

That's just spill over coffee

[–] Batman@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's coffee grounds not coffee counters

[–] the_mighty_kracken@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Next time spill them on the ground?

[–] Batman@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

We don't make the rules, we just read the ~~tea leaves~~ coffee beans.

I rely on this method when I’ve either got a hangover, am in a rush, or both.

One fateful morning I forgot to put the filter in first.

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Crunchy style

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I finally decided it was worth losing a little aroma from grinding the beans and loading the filter the night before in order to have coffee at the touch of a button when I'm sleepy.

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

I like pourover, but I also don't like super hot coffee, so I make mine before bed and vacuum seal it in a mason jar. Then I either have "iced coffee" in the morning or I give it a quick reheat to an immediately drinkable temp. With the vacuum, I don't really get a discernable taste difference by the time I wake up.

[–] KulunkelBoom@lemmus.org 4 points 3 days ago

I'm no expert, but I think the water needs to go through the coffee.

[–] Hiro8811@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Snorting? Hell yeah

Coff-whiiiiiiiii

[–] untorquer@quokk.au 3 points 3 days ago

I get that you're using the Finnish method (well done might i add) but that's way too much coffee for 3.72 cups.

[–] Greystripeycat@lemmy.today 3 points 3 days ago

Must not have cats/dogs/small people to dodge. I'm not laughing at you, I'm crying with you! Medications are so expensive nowadays.

[–] BCsven@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

This is fine, its when it dumps into a drawer that things are a problem

[–] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What is the little funnel thing in the carafe for?

It just seems weird to have a plastic tube sitting in the hot coffee.

[–] caurvo@aussie.zone 1 points 3 days ago

It stops the coffee forming layers, so that early drips and late drips don't separate from the dripping.

[–] criticon@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

One time I forgot to "catch" a dose of the most expensive coffee I've bought from the grinder. The aftermath looked similar 😭

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 1 points 3 days ago

That's complicated. My cousins cat spills coffee like that and I don't know how he does it. Very odd, very secret.
