Still, investors are shaking off the report, bidding the stock up 5.6% in premarket

How the hell is it rising on this news. This stock is super manipulated.

[–] oakey66@lemmy.world 86 points 2 days ago

Of course it's manipulated. Tesla sold 1.7M vehicles in 2024. Their market cap is 970B.

Toyota sold 10M. Their market cap is ~270B.

The US stock market is a joke. It's vaporware mostly the result of gambling.

In market terms, bad news was already priced in. The fact that the steep drop wasn’t as bad as some analysts predicted means it was better news than expected, so the stock went up a bit.

By the same guy who manipulated the election.

[–] astrsk@fedia.io 1 points 2 days ago

That’s not manipulation, that’s how this works. Stock investors always buy the bad news, when it’s expected bad news. Given all the turmoil that tanked the stock earlier this year, it was expected shipments would slow. So now is the time to buy back in because there’s a decent chance sales will pick back up again. Disclaimer this is a simplified and generalized overview.

In the words of Sarah Lynn: 🖕 Suck a dick dumb shits! 🖕

Seriously, you spend a couple years pushing away your customers, then you spend a few months pushing away the edgy morons you thought you could attract, and what do you expect to happen?

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

I drop that reference all the time and no one ever gets it.
