Sorry dude, the world's richest and most powerful country is currently melting down and turning to fascism. That affects everyone, directly or indirectly. You're gonna get a lot of politics.
Exactly, I definently miss the times when politics could be more easily separated, at least mentally, from the day. But at this point we're in an actual dumpster fire. There's not much else to look at.
Ultimately it still holds an issue of consent. Some people who are very politically active still want spaces to switch off, especially when truama is common among activists due to cops being violent bastards who constantly SA protestors.
So keep it in the political communities.

Stupid, sexy memes. Throbbing memes. Nostalgic memes. Memes about nostalgic meme, deep fried to jpg crispness. Demotivational memes. A dead baby joke, from a GeoCities site in 2001, hosted by a 12 year old. The face of your late grandmother, with a penis on it. Some really good nine inch nails live recordings. Your first wank at the family computer, late at night, discovering porn. Your friend half a world away, who to this day you've never met and can't be sure wasn't a catfish. Half Life 2, downloaded from limewire, with some shady crack that edited your registry.

No, I don't. At least none that allow videos.
A lot still get posted to !videos@lemmy.world but they do get taken down fairly quickly. The perils of browsing "new" I guess.
You gotta use keyword filters, friend. Block that shit from your feeds whenever possible.

Yes. Its very easy. Think of keywords that describe the things you don't care to hear about or see on Lemmy. Add them to the block list in your account settings.

It's easy to understand how people can't manage to focus on any other thing.
As they say, "You may not fuck with politics, but politics will fuck with you."
Crucial to have good ~~in-flight~~ ~~in-freefall~~ ~~mid-crash~~ last-few-seconds-of-hallucinatory-cellular-brain-death entertainment.

Acting like content can be apolitical isn't just incorrect, it's a microaggression against anyone who's been told their identity is political by a conservative.
