Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

There's been a few things I've wanted to cross for, even seriously considered it once 2 months ago until my wife said absolutely not.
What's sad is I wanted to visit Florida, NYC, and a few other spots. I doubt we'll ever go back now.
Maybe someday friend, but you've made the right choice for now. There are still good people here.

You're not missing much skipping out on Florida. Its like California except all the people in charge of the place have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. You'd be much better of visiting Cali/Hawaii or somewhere along the coast of Mexico.
My mom is getting close to where she can't fly anywhere anymore. But she misses my uncle, and she misses the place he loves the most, a bay near Waikiki where he used to swim and where my cousin learned to swim, amid the huge fish and turtles.
But until Hawaii secedes, we can't go. She'd like to see it one more time before she dies, though, and repeat the stories about my uncle who died after getting injured in UNAMSIL.
As a long time NYer (I miss it) who now lives in Toronto, just take a day trip to Toronto. Nearly everything is better here. It's smaller for sure, but the trees don't look like they want to die and the smell of piss doesn't permeate the air for half the year. It's also slightly cheaper. The two cities are very diverse and share a lot of the same culture
1 quarter of the amount of travel? Heads would roll normally if it was 5%.

I'm from Missouri, a state under solid Republican control for 40 years. Do not underestimate a conservative's ability to accept life getting measurably worse so long as the TV keeps telling them what they want to hear
My father often bikes up to Canada, which means crossing the border. (obviously)
Normally, there's a long line of cars, and a bit of a wait.
There wasn't a single person in front of him when he got there, and just 2 cars waiting when he came back.
I had to travel to the US for work. I hated being there.
When people ask why the Canadian travel numbers aren't zero, this is a big part of why. Business systems and markets take time to shift gracefully. Over time the friction in the business operations will guide more and more other opportunities and the quantity of border crossings from Canada to the US will continue to dwindle.

we wont see the real effects till around december. its mostly pre-planned trips and business trips.
I'm going to be asked to do the same - a few short stints - and I've been seriously risking taking a stand and saying no.
My work asked me if I would travel to Las Vegas and I flat out told them no, and told them why.
I wish I could have said no.
