Mt. Tamalpais

This was the closest I've ever been to hummingbirds and the most I've ever seen in one place. I spent 5-10 minutes holding still, trying to get one to land on my finger but no luck. I could see their little tongues and had no idea how frequently they poop. Their poops are these tiny quick little squirts.

i'm a short drive away and during hummingbird season we've got a ton. the trick is to have part of their feeder be almost neon red.

Try wearing bright colors. I had one get close while wearing a t-shirt with a big yellow smiley face on it

I had to move the feeders further away due to the sheer volume of hummingbird waste. Most we had at once was 22 and that's while we were looking.

Still very jealous of West Coast birders variety of hummingbird. We only get one species east of the Mississippi.

Me too! They covered the porch rail and then mold grew on top of that.

Ruby-throated? I think that's all I've seen in Florida.

Ruby throated! Usually the feeders are a girls club, so it's rare to see the ruby throated dudes.

I love this photo. It's like stealing a little piece of time.
One perfect moment, and snap it's yours.

Well they don't wanna be carrying any extra weight! It's peeoop, little motherfuckers drink a lot after all. Adorable bastards are more likely to strafe you than perch on you. Beautiful shot.

Beautiful picture. I too have trouble talking about anything without poop somehow entering the conversation.
