Heyho, I would like to track how much I walk per day. Ideally via a FOSS app as I don't have any other device on me all the time. Is there anything good available?

Pedometer (PFA) tracks steps and shows the distance you walked per day.

First I thought it was a hilarious typo... but really it's pedometer instead of podometer? Get your shit together English language.

It's latin, pedis, foot.

Like pedicure

Not greek for child

however, meter is Greek.

seems like only Spanish got it right, all other romance languages messed that up too.

I use OpenTracks, but mostly for runs. But it can track simple walking though.

I've used RunnerUp and it works well. F-Droid store.

If you want to go FOSS all the way down to the hardware I would suggest the Pine Time:

https://pine64.org/devices/pinetime/

It has a step counter, so not quite km, but it is all FOSS Hardware and Software.

If you want something more sophisticated then there is AsteroidOS which can be flashed on a bunch of commercially available smart watches: https://asteroidos.org/watches/

That's really nice! pinetime looks great, but is currently out of stock. I tried finding an open source smart watch before, but only found pebbles which doesn't market for the EU.

Still have other replies to read but likely I'll just wait for pinetime to be stocked again.

I am using the BangleJS 2 as my open source smart watch. Works great for me.

Looks great! I might now what I get for christmas :) just have to double check that UK hasn't heavily changed their guarantee laws since leaving the EU and that shipping is survivable.

You didn't specify OS, and most of the good Android ones have been mentioned. But in case you have a GNU/Linux phone, there is also Jogger
