Ahhh guys, he apologized. I mean, it's only a bit of foreign blackmail targeting a man with unbearable weight on global tech. He said he was sorry!

And almost 300k acres of farmland?

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 163 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

No sympathy here. If he is admitting to that, no reason to believe him on the kid stuff, better do a very deep look.

He can keep the cell warm for Trump as far as I'm concerned.

[–] sidelove@lemmy.world 83 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, this comes across as admitting to a small thing to try and avoid consequences for the big thing. If we're already in a place where we're talking about a man with a life of elicit affairs while spending time around a child sex trafficker, it is absurdly unbelievable that at no point did those wires get crossed or that he was unaware of what he was getting himself into.

[–] GiantChickDicks@lemmy.ml 46 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

The term for this is "trickle truthing", and it's a common tactic when someone gets caught doing something terrible.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Of course there's a name for it

It's not the same severity, but it reminds me of when Kevin Spacey was having rape allegations or something. So he came out and said he was finally coming out of the closet.

It was like, "yeah ... okay ... what about the other stuff ... ?"

He's sorry he got an STI from an underage Russian prostitute and he gave it to Melinda, then asked Epstein how to slip her antibiotics without her knowing.

"affair". fuck right off Bill.

[–] Dojan@pawb.social 50 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

There are no underage prostitutes. They're children being exploited and abused. He's sorry he got caught raping children.

“I apologize to other people who are drawn into this because of the mistake I made,” he said. “It definitely is the opposite of the values of the Foundation and the goals of the Foundation.”

It's not though. The foundation is a way to spread his influence, bolster his ego, and pay less in taxes. Wasn't that why he was pals with the pedo kingpin?

"I never knew the man."

"Okay I knew him but only casually."

"Okay we hung out a bit."

"Okay I spent time on his rape island but didn't partake."

"Okay I had consensual sex with women there."

You are here.

"Okay they were trafficked sex victims and it was rape."

"Okay they were children."

[–] bigFab@lemmy.world 19 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

... "Okay we ate the children to dispose of the evidence."

The phrase "underage women" is the biggest lie mainstream media has pushed as part of all of this. These scumbags didn't have sex with "underage women". The raped children.

For anyone that still needs to hear this: there are no good billionaires! ABAB. This dude right here was the poster child for "good billionaires'. I don't know whether only evil fuckers can become billionaires (probably), but I do know that having access to functionally unlimited wealth and power will inevitably warp your soul.

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 37 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

This dude right here was the poster child for "good billionaire"

Really? I mean he tried really hard to whitewash his image with his charity and malaria research, but he was always a piece of absolute shit and the ‘good billionaire’ label was always a scam: DOS deal games, monopoly behavior, billionaire policy capture through his foundation, education meddling, vaccine-IP politics, nothing he did was truly charity, everything was self serving.

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 14 points 2 weeks ago

I fully agree with you. I been team "fuck Bill Gates" forever. I just mean that there's a whole lot of people that were jock-riding him.

[–] nwtreeoctopus@sh.itjust.works 24 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Any good billionaire could donate down to being a hundred-millionaire and live a life of obscene comfort for generations. Why wouldn't you, if you weren't trash?

gates was and is one of the most ruthless billionaires, thats why his sudden pivoting to "helping africa" was all but disengenious, but now it made sense since the epstein files came out.

I don't clear Gates for falling in with Epstein, but this dude is clearly the fall guy for the tech sector. From old media to social media.

It wasn't Gates at the front of the inauguration: Meta, Amazon, Google, Twitter. DJT kept all his Epstein stooges close, that's a consistent. These folx also are all mysteriously missing from the Epstein files.

Gates is just the easiest target because Microsoft is the enemy of where The Big 4 want the tech sector to go.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 27 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Or maybe it's because Gates is not a CEO anymore?

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago

This scenario isn't really useful as a 'fall guy'. He's just one of many, his culpability does nothing to detract from anyone else's culpability. In fact, his admissions reinforce the substance of the Epstein files and strengthen any allegations that stem from them about others.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 14 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

You are probably right, all of the guys that weren't redacted were done so at the direction of the president, we only found out about the ones that didn't make a deal with him, be it to do him favors like sending money into his secret accounts, his favorite type of favor to receive I suspect; and or not telling people the things they themselves know, or the evidence they have, that can implicate the president and his pals.

That said, fuck them all. Let's nail these fuckers to the wall, then work and razing and burning the rest. This scandal is the key, it's not going away.

In one email, dated July 2013 and written by Epstein about Gates, the late pedophile alleges the billionaire sought to conceal from his wife Melinda French Gates a sexually transmitted disease he contracted after having sex with “Russian girls.”

The email claims Gates sought antibiotics to secretly give her. It is not clear whether the email was sent to Gates, but he denied the allegation as “completely false” via a spokesperson in late January.

In his call on Tuesday, however, Gates confirmed he had extramarital relationships during his 27-year marriage with two Russian women.

“I did have affairs, one with a Russian bridge player who met me at bridge events, and one with a Russian nuclear physicist who I met through business activities,” he said.

During the call, Gates acknowledged flying on a private plane with Epstein and spending time with him in the U.S. and abroad — but insisted that he had not witnessed or participated in illegal activity.

“I did nothing illicit. I saw nothing illicit,” Gates reportedly told staff. “To be clear, I never spent any time with the victims, the women around him.”

Gates said he first met Epstein in 2011, after the financier’s Florida conviction for procuring a child for prostitution, and continued to socialize with him despite concerns raised by his then-wife.

A physicist and a Bridge player...

Sure, we believe that Bill, we just need you to answer a few more questions. Maybe some pointed questions about this and a few other subjects. Maybe even edged questions if you will.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 24 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

"despite concerns raised by his then-wife" so he knew and still hung out with him.

Admitting to the lesser deed to deflect from the greater crime.

We all see you Bill. We know what you did.

[–] doomslang@lemmy.zip 42 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

He's trying to satisfy people by admitting to a smaller thing rather than the worse things he did. Classic PR.

[–] null@lemmy.org 18 points 2 weeks ago

Soon enough the two Russian women will in fact be two Russian girls.

Bill really nearly whitewashed away all the horrible business practices and cutthroat shit he did in the 80s and 90s with the Gates Foundation.

But man, he looks like he aged a shitload in the short while since all the Epstein stuff really came to light.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 25 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He is still doing shitty stuff. He bailed out Monsanto with a big investment, and is a big proponent of their herbicides and proprietary round up ready seeds, and owns, what is it 5 or approaching 10% of farmland in the US to use it on.

He's big into geo engineering, trying to get governments to agree to let them spray masses of sulphur dioxide in the upper atmosphere to blot out the sun, totally not a Mr. Burns move. As if he knows the unintended consequences that could result, or as if other countries that would be affected agreed to it, to say nothing of the wildlife, (ie test projects have already shown in the westerh hemisphere it will make africa drier.)

What else, he intervened in covid vaccines to prevent a not for profit open source vaccine. The very idea horrified him somehow. He seems like he's trying to do good sometimes and does evil. He has a case of billionairism where everyone around him agrees with everything he says and he thinks the laser light of knowledge shines out of his ass.

If he gives his fortune away to a good charity and commits seppuku then I will think about some sympathy

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (4 children)

How about bad charities that he uses to enrich himself while millions die, like he did with Covid?

Sympathy going to happen.

Edit; I just noticed that I didn't write "isn't"...

With Russian Women

Russian underage women aka, children.

[–] Uruanna@lemmy.world 26 points 2 weeks ago (6 children)

“I did have affairs, one with a Russian bridge player who met me at bridge events, and one with a Russian nuclear physicist who I met through business activities,” he said.

Sounds like actual adults.

[–] phtheven@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago

So he met both these accomplished adult Russian women just going about his billionaire day, nothing to do with his good buddy Jeff whatsoever. When he caught the nasty clap from one of these only two accomplished adult Russian women, he ran straight to his good buddy Jeff for help spiking his wife, even though his good buddy Jeff had nothing to do with ~~trafficking~~ ~~procuring~~ introducing him to these exactly two, definitely adult, women.

I have no further questions, just glad we can finally put these "BILL GATES IS DEFINITELY A PEDOPHILE" rumours to bed. Phew.

It’s weird how everyone has his number, even if their reasoning was off. The Slashdot penguinheads thought he a literal Sith lord, the Q-nuts thought he, Soros and Fauci were running 5G vaccine chip biolabs, and now it turns out he was an Epstein Island frequent flyer.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 31 points 2 weeks ago (7 children)

The slashdotters likely remember when Gates literally tried to make the web proprietary with IE6 and ActiveX, among other sleazy BS.

He can get wrecked.

the first thing a good billionare would do is not become one, and look around the world where their resources could alleviate so much suffering.

Announcing "affairs" seems carefully chosen. "Affair" implies an ongoing extramarital relationship. Sampling each of Epstein's new child sex slaves would be pedophilia and cheating, but not affairs. He wants to imply his only extramarital sex was with consenting adults.

Honestly, that probably one of the tamer things in those files.

[–] Reygle@lemmy.world 31 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (7 children)

Are you familiar with the documents in the files claiming he tried to source antibiotics for something he "caught" from those underage Russian girls, with intention of also secretly slipping his wife the same antibiotics for the STI he likely gave to her? https://www.btimesonline.com/articles/176578/20260201/epstein-files-reveal-bill-gates-caught-an-std-and-asked-for-antibiotics-to-give-wife-melinda-in-secret.htm

What a guy. /sarcasm /notsorry

If we were in a different "sub", I'd also now post a photograph of a wooden assembly using a heavy, sharpened piece of metal that uses gravity to powerfully remove things from other things, but the mods here have previously educated me to the fact they do not allow that. >.>
