In Dragon Age, Serah and Messere and the gender neutral terms, which i alway thought went nicely with "Ladies & Gentlemen, Serahs & Messeres!” However Serah is for those equal or lower in status and Messere is higher status. Choose wisely.

I have an Android tablet running on Lineage OS and am trying to copy a large file (program settings) onto it using USB to my laptop.

Context: I have drawing program Clip Studio Paint on S7 Tablet running on original Samsung OS. I want to copy ClipStudio userdata file onto S6 Lineage OS. I have no issues doing this with the S7, I can go into any file. I try to do it on the S6 a minute later and the error occurs.

On the S6 I can copy simple things, such as pictures and text files into my download folder via usb no problem, but when I go deeper into files like the programs userdata, I hit the "Sorry, could not display all the contents of "Userdata":libmtp error: could not get object handles."

What I have tried:

  • Tablet in developer mode, USB debugging is on, & Default USB configuration is set to File transfer - no change
  • In the terminal I checked mtp-detect, got the following:
mtp-detect
libmtp version: 1.1.21

Listing raw device(s)
Device 0 (VID=04e8 and PID=6860) is a Samsung Galaxy models (MTP).
   Found 1 device(s):
Samsung: Galaxy models (MTP) (04e8:6860) @ bus 3, dev 13
Attempting to connect device(s)
libusb_claim_interface() reports device is busy, likely in use by GVFS or KDE MTP device handling alreadyLIBMTP PANIC: Unable to initialize device
Unable to open raw device 0
OK.

I tried finding something on the report message above, but I'm afraid it all got a little complicated. I do believe my libmtb version is out of date, I still have no idea how to install the update from tar.gz after looking into it)

Now I'm stumped.

I know m&ms are Mars but those little bits of poison have also tasted like vomit for decades. I can't even watch people choke those friggen things down. Smarties or death.

Aw cool! Glad you wanted to share!

I noticed there's some thoughts that maybe these types of posts don't have a place in the Linux phones. I'm new to Lemmy and found help here and wanted to thank the community. Changing over was work and I'm proud of myself, but recognize those who chimed in when I needed it.

So I propose the positive aspect of a show-your-home-screen post.

They can help start a discussion for those of who are curious about the process of running a non mainstream OS. If you are a degoogler, it's important to know what life without Gapps is like. It may provide folks with feedback on better app options as well if they are struggling. Switching over is a process with inherent risk so it can be really scary and there are few places that have real human feedback.

Anyhow, my newb two cents. Is my OS proper Linux? I don't know, I'm new, looking for help, and it brought me here.

It's all about usage and what you are willing to give up. I never had any use for those things beforehand and I value my privacy more if I did. So it was an easy choice.

My phone is as Degoogled as I could get it with Lineage, & I don't use any banking apps on mobile, so I can't give too much info there. For 2 factor Auth Apps, I use the Proton one and ~~it works a treat!~~

Edit: Blerg!!! I have been having issues with the Proton Authenticator, You need Gapps or MicroG to get it to work properly.

Edit 2: Aegis works

A thankyou to the help I've received here.

Phone looks and feels great.

Wallpaper (I'm pretty sure) is by Jubilee / 8Pxl

No doubt, I found a good balance between display and text size and while some of the longer text will still scroll, it's not everything scrolling at once.

That helped, thankyou!

Thanks, I found the right combo that works for me 👍

It's all the text of the option that's too long to fit under the icon. Scrolls and stops then scrolls again, mildly distracting.

Lineage os 22.2 installed on Pixel 1. On my pull down menu and power off screen there is a scrolling text that I dislike, can I turn that off?

I really enjoyed doing it with the pixel 1! I love a good tinker and it's good practice, might even switch over to it as my main phone. I'm looking into finding a used pixel 6 so I can try out Graphene and ditching the S8 altogether. Next project is tablets though.👏

Lineage installed and it works beautifully.

I'm going to try LineageOS first, but do you have any thoughts about CalyxOS? I'm in my last stages of degoogling so the further away I am from Google, the better. I'd love to use GrapheneOS but I can't afford a Pixel that's new enough to run it.

I have an donated Gen 1 Pixel phone so that I can experiment trying a new OS on it. I use linux mint on my laptop but still consider myself a beginner. The goal is to eventually do this to my main phone (A galaxy S8) but I wanted to get a feel for how to do it. I'm stuck on the OS, I only use the phone as a clock, texting, and occasionally a call. Internet isn't a huge deal but it'd be nice in a pinch. I'm looking for an OS that's easy to use, privacy & security. Any recommends/guides?
