That is a silly comparison, in the thing nor aliens nobody joins them willingly.

(And with the creeping corruption, environmental disasters, everything being made worse by sociopaths, but the lack of roaming monsters, the rifters book series would be a better fit).

Ah yes SE Gyges, the most reasonable pro ai guy.

Assumed that latter part was common knowledge.

Both are also quite popular in my exp among the wider vaguely leftwing programmer crowd. Which is also good that we keep being critical of both as well here.

Comparing trans rights to chatbot rights is, and let me use British understatement, not it.

A lot of people disagree with me, and that’s okay. I am happy that the philosophical discussion is being had, even if it’s become unhinged.

There is a cartoon for behavior like this.

I don’t think Roko’s basilisk cares what you think

Remember when tracingwoodgrains went after Gerard and said that nobody believes in roko's B? And how it was unfair to mock them for it?

The finances must be really really bad.

Also didn't they define AGI as 'it should be able to make x00 billion dollars'?

TL;DR it’s much harder than they thought it would be

Every time. The only succes they had in the wider space seems to be the EA nets. (And even those had some hiccups when people used the toxic nets to fish).

Re brain surgery.

Finally we are reaching The Expanse level of plans from LW, where they did brain surgery on people to remove their empathy.

Via reddits sneerclub. Thanks u/aiworldism.

I have called LW a cult incubator for a while now, and while the term has not catched on, nice to see more reporting on the problem that lw makes you more likely to join a cult.

https://www.aipanic.news/p/the-rationality-trap the original link for the people who dont like archive.is used the archive because I dont like substack and want to discourage its use.

As found by @gerikson here, more from the anti anti TESCREAL crowd. How the antis are actually R9PRESENTATIONALism. Ottokar expanded on their idea in a blog post.

Original link.

I have not read the bigger blog post yet btw, just assumed it would be sneerable and posted it here for everyone's amusement. Learn about your own true motives today. (This could be a troll of course, boy does he drop a lot of names and thinks that is enough to link things).
